Yes you heard right, Lightning has struck. That's "White Lightning", the first Premium Shave Soap in WetShaveObsession's Ultimate Skincare Line. The premise for this line was to take skincare in wetshaving to a whole new level. Much like we have taken shave soap to a whole new level with our organic derived, distilled tallow based glycerin and our oils all filtered to 100% sterile state pre-manufacture. The Ultimate Skincare Line raises that bar even higher.
I experimented greatly when formulating our Premium Shave Soap and utilized never before used ingredients taken to their purest forms. This new line takes this to a whole new level. The primary changes in the soap base are simply additions to our existing formula. We have substituted Organic Goats Milk for some of the Triple Filtered Purified Water. We have also added Organic Aloe Vera and utilized Deodorized Tea Tree Oil to take the already fantastic moisturizing and softening effects of our Premium Shave Soap and actually improve them!
That in and of itself might be enough for some, but not for me. I have spent months studying the properties of various essential oils. I have spoken to numerous resources or experts on the topic if you will. I have to admit it was all a bit odd or hippie-like at first. Many of these people are aroma therapists with some "far out" thoughts, however I listened to all they had to say. Then, utilizing the notes I had taken from these essential oil experts if you will, I began to hit the phones seeking some more scientific backing for the information I had gathered. I had just about given up when I spoke to a friend of mine who is a service manager for a computer company. I told him about my current undertaking and it just so happens one of his accounts, it turns out, is Carter Wallace. His company has the on site service contracts for most of their east coast locations. He made 2 phone calls and bam, I was able to speak to someone who works for Carter Wallace formulating and manufacturing cosmetics! It was the treasure trove of scientific information I had been waiting for.
To say this conversation (as well as a few subsequent ones) was fruitful would be an understatement. I got the information and scientific backing for the information I was seeking. I could barely write fast enough. Turns out a large % of essential oils have fantastic properties when it comes to skin health . The key is utilizing high quality extracted organic essential oils and using them in the proper therapeutic amounts for them to be effective. Now to be clear not all oils marketed as essential oils are in fact true essential oils. Some things are not available as true steam distilled essential oils. The Vanilla I use, for example, will be Vanilla Oleoresin, the Menthol with be an Organic derived Menthol oil infusion. I feel it is important to be transparent when informing the customer of such things. That being said ALL the oils are Organically derived.
This is what makes the Ultimate Skincare Line even more unique. It will be utilizing essential oils only (and the above mentioned organic variants) for its scent properties and these oils have also been carefully selected for their inherent skin care benefits. They are also being used in the appropriate amounts to actually offer these benefits as well as being combined in the optimal ratios to compliment and augment each other and the benefits each has to offer.
Now back to White Lightning. It will be a Vanilla, Eucalyptus, Spearmint and Menthol Shave Soap. The benefits these essential oils bring to the table are their anti inflammatory properties, their anti-bacterial, anti- microbial and anti-fungal properties. Their anti oxidant effects. Their effectiveness at treating acne and eczema (due to high salicylic acid content). Skin moisturization. Analgesic effects. Naturally reduces Allergic reactions to other ingredients. The list goes on and on.
The entire key to effectively utilizing these skin beneficial organic essential oils was doing so in effective amounts, optimal ratios, and utilizing synergistic benefit between the oils used. This required a huge amount of experimentation and trial and error. I feel, however, that the end result has been well worth it.
"White Lightning" is a cooling, soothing, pleasing, moisturizing assault on the skin. It leaves you and your skin feeling invigorated and refreshed. The moisturizing effects are felt long post shave.
